Slowly…painfully…
Concern for “the environment” is growing.
Gradually…with difficulty…
Some are even beginning to understand that
“the environment” is not maple trees, or migrating geese or
some deer in a misty field at sunset.
Environment does not simply mean the natural world.
When they pave paradise to put up a parking lot,
the pavement does not replace the environment…
It becomes our environment
